Ride to BikeFest, Roanoke, VA
On a 40 degree Saturday, (4-10-2010) we met to ride to Roanoke. Gary and Karen bundled up on their inaugural Club ride aboard their sparkling new Yamaha Star Venture. Next to them is Chris, on a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe.
We rode first to Greenville and picked up a bunch of other riders then to Lexington and picked up several more. Here Chaplain Gary leads the group in a blessing before we embark.
We hit the Interstate for a brief run, then down Rt. 11 among the beautiful budding redbud blossums. They are visible in the backgroup in this shot of a stop as we approached Roanoke.

With little issue, we got to the Civic Center along with thousands of other bikers.
It had warmed up by then, so everyone peeled layers in the parking lot. After paying the fees and getting past the gates, we entered the show that included vendors, bands, a bike show and a stunt show. Click on the pics to see larger pics of the stunt riders.
The bike show was held inside the Civic Center - here's one example of the bikes on display.

Chris contemplated a new helmet, but later decided against the purchase. (Good decision, Chris.)

We left the show and stopped outside of Roanoke at a diner for an early dinner. (There were some issues with banana pudding and whipped cream... but the camera gave up by then, so this is a "trust me" aspect of the trip) From there, we motored home safely finishing an 8 hour tour.
